What’s a freewheel?

The most common question we get asked?

So, what’s a freewheel?

For our company, it means two things:

  1. We like to think of ourselves as the part that lets all of your other parts keep moving – when everything else grinds to a halt or comes unhinged, we’re still going, spinning away
  2. Culturally, we embrace and embody the irreverence, independence, and spirit that comes with the idea of freewheeling

As a noun, the freewheel is the part of a bike or car that keeps spinning when all of the other gear parts lock up. It’s what lets you stop pedaling but the bike keeps going. As a verb, freewheel means to move or function freely, independently, or unconcernedly.
